elopement in moab at fisher towers
Want to know what I love? Surprises.
Josie and Zach contacted me one week before their wedding. Their original plans to get married in Kauai had been foiled because of you-know-what, so they thought Moab would be perfect last minute. They live up in Salt Lake City, so planning something so quickly was a breeze. I had a FaceTime date with Josie and her mom and quickly realized that we were the perfect fit. They were so genuine and casual, and they love this desert.
They came down to Moab a few days before their ceremony to scope out potential locations. Their families have spent tons of time in the area so they already had some locations in mind. I gave them a few options and they eventually settled on one of my favorites – Fisher Towers. Their day came and just when we were supposed to begin their ceremony a massive storm blew over us, showered us with some much-needed rain (and good luck!), and moved on. Their response? Casual, cool, calm. We all waited in our vehicles while the beautiful clouds rolled over us and then continued with their evening as the sun came out again.
I could ramble on about these two for a while – their calm nature, the way they fit together beautifully, the smiles I saw from their friends and family as they vowed to keep each other safe – but I’ll let them do most of the talking:
We decided to elope because we wanted something small, intimate and perfect for us. Having tons of people at such a special time for Zach and I didn’t really seem like us. We were also determined to have it in a special location and sometimes it’s hard to have 100 people in such a small, beautiful location. I wouldn’t change a thing, an elopement is the way to go.
Josie’s favorite moment from the day: My favorite moment of our elopement was walking down the aisle in such an AMAZING, beautiful place and getting to see everyone that I love standing by mine & Zach’s side. I loved being able to say my vows in such a special place.
Zach’s favorite moment from the day: My favorite moment of our elopement was being able to marry my best friend & say my vows in front of both of our families in such a pretty place that we will be able to take our kids one day.
Their advice to couples considering eloping: Our advice would be to do whatever YOU want. Whatever is going to make you happy do it & don’t worry too much about things that you can’t control. Your day will be perfect no matter what because you are marrying the love of your life. So take a deep breath when you wake up the morning of the ceremony and try not to stress about the things that you can’t control, everything will work out the way it’s meant to.Â
