canyonlands national park engagement photos
i’m just gonna go ahead and file this session under “the definition of love”. these two are the real freakin’ deal. they love canyonlands national park and the surrounding area in moab because they know and appreciate just how wild and vast this desert really is. they no longer live in utah, but this place is special to them so when they were headed back to the beehive state for a friend’s wedding, they reached out and made time to come all the way down to red rock country for their engagement photos. that’s one of the things that i love about this place – it will always, always draw you back. if you get within 5 or 6 hours of here you somehow end up making the turn that brings you to 191. it’s magnetic, this desert. it draws wild souls, people who aren’t bound by what anyone else thinks of them, people who want to stand on the edge of a cliff and stare out at an ocean of red rock, just to know what it feels like. just because they can. this is why i love this place, and why i can’t imagine doing anything else.
the weather this year has been unusual, abnormal. ehem. it’s almost as if the climate is changing. *gasp!*
we got together on the summer solstice for their engagement photos, a day that is typically hotter than hot in the desert. lucky for me these two were completely up for anything, so when a storm rolled in, they embraced it and just snuggled as the first drops began to fall. i think the last images we got are some of my absolute favorites. thank you, blair & matt, for trusting me. you two have a love unlike any i’ve seen. xo
