Let me just start off by saying HAPPY HOLIDAYS! I hope everyone had the chance to hang with friends and family this week, and celebrate by playing outside. Casey and I made the last minute call to scoot over to Colorado for Christmas. His mom spends half her time in the northern part of the state, so we got to spend a few days with her, drinking wine, eating amazing food, and playing Mexican trains of course. We also got to ski a bluebird day and have champagne for lunch, so I was a very happy camper. The pups came along, too (duh), and watching them romp through the fresh powder made my cheeks hurt from laughter. Anyone else have dogs that go absolutely nuts in the snow?!
This was my very last wedding of 2018 and it was a total dream. These two wanted a small, intimate ceremony in a beautiful location, so I of course recommended Dead Horse Point for it’s crazy gorgeous views, easy access for everyone, and small crowds (compared to the neighboring national parks). They had a brief ceremony, witnessed by their closest family, and the light just got better and better as the evening went on. We spent about an hour roaming the cliffside, taking pics, and getting to know each other a bit. I love the moodiness that happens up at Dead Horse Point sometimes. The colors richen and darken, and it looks like the entire landscape has been drenched by a rosy pink paint brush. Make sure you scroll all the way through these images to see the crazy sunset!
After their ceremony and photos everyone headed to Sorrel River Ranch for drinks, dinner, and cake. If you’re looking for a beautiful spot for a small reception, check this resort out. It’s a a bit of a drive down along the river, but it’s worth it for the location and tasty food!
I have two more sessions to wrap up before I’m done for the season, and although I’m excited for a breather, I’m already so incredibly grateful and excited about all the couples I get to work with in 2019. I’ll be all over the west next year – Northern California, Southern California, Arizona, Idaho, Colorado, and of course here in Utah – and I can’t wait to be a part of so many celebrations!
