when courtney first e-mailed me about having her engagement session she mentioned how she wasn’t exactly sure of the date she and her fiance would be in moab. the two of them were going to be touring colorado and utah on a motorcycle and were still finalizing their itinerary. i was totally intrigued, and also slightly envious of their trip. i love road trips, especially in the summer. we nailed down some dates and decided to do a 2 hour engagement session. these are the best, because we are able to visit two different locations and get a really wide variety of shots. hooray for more time spent taking photos!

i’ve mentioned this before, but you just never know who you’re going to meet in this business. you don’t know what story belongs to the person on the other end of the screen sending you an e-mail. i knew almost nothing about these two before we met. yet after the 2+ hours we were able to spend together, i walked away both admiring and respecting the two of them. courtney was in the process of starting a soap company (check it out! dirty girl soap co.) and jesse founded the imagine foundation, a non-profit whose goal is to end child slavery (check out the site here, and his ted talk!). these two are a power couple. they practice what they preach, and definitely seem to be living life to the fullest.
they also have a ridiculously awesome sense of humor. i can remember jesse making me laugh so hard my cheeks hurt by the time the sun went down. the best part of it all is that i get to shoot their wedding next summer in ohio! to sum it up, i cannot wait for that celebration. there’s going to be a lot of laughter and celebrating at that wedding!
